2. Data we collect
| When | What we collect |
|---|---|
| You request the free ebook | Your first name, email address, your phone number (optional), the date and time of your request, and a record that you ticked the consent box. |
| You contact us | Your name, email address and whatever you include in your message. |
| You visit the website | Technical data our web host records in server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages requested and date and time. |
| You submit a form | A short-lived, hashed (scrambled) version of your IP address, kept for up to one hour to stop spam and abuse. |
We do not ask for payment details on this website, and we do not knowingly collect special category data (such as health information).
3. How and why we use it
We must have a lawful basis to use your data. Ours are:
- Consent – to email you the ebook you asked for and to send you occasional emails about our courses and guides. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests – to keep the website secure, prevent spam and fraud, understand how the site performs and improve it, and answer your enquiries. We balance these interests against your rights and freedoms.
- Legal obligation – to keep records we are required by law to hold, such as accounting records.
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the website and send email, acting on our instructions:
- Our website hosting and email delivery providers.
- Google Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google, so your IP address and browser details are sent to Google when the page loads.
- Professional advisers (such as accountants and lawyers) and regulators, where necessary.
- Law enforcement or other authorities, if we are legally required to.
5. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure the transfer is protected, for example by using a country covered by UK adequacy regulations or by using the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Ebook sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data. If you do not engage with our emails, we review and remove inactive contacts after 24 months.
- Enquiries: up to 12 months after we have dealt with them.
- Server logs: normally no longer than 90 days.
- Hashed IP rate-limit records: up to 1 hour.
- Accounting records: 6 years, as required by law.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- be told how your data is used (this policy);
- access a copy of your data;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to our processing, including objecting to direct marketing at any time;
- receive your data in a portable format where it applies; and
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
To use any of these rights, email hello@mintpixelstudio.com. We will respond within one month and will not normally charge a fee. We may need to verify your identity first.
8. Marketing emails
We will only email you marketing messages if you have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop by emailing hello@mintpixelstudio.com. Service messages, such as delivering the ebook you requested, are not marketing.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including restricted access to stored sign-up details and spam controls on forms. No internet transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children's data
Our website is intended for adults aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us their data, please contact us and we will delete it.
11. Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. If we make significant changes, we will let you know where appropriate. See also our Cookie Policy.
